What are Colt firearms?

Colt's Manufacturing Company is a firearms manufacturer that has been in business continuously since 1886. It produces a wide range of pistols, rifles and revolvers, as well as specialty firearms and equipment for military and law enforcement organizations.

Colt began in 1836 when founder Sam Colt was issued his first patent for a firearm equipped with a revolving cylinder. Colt began as the first producer of revolvers but soon expanded to long armor rifles as well. Colt became an international company in 1851 with the opening of a plant in England. The company estimates it has sold more than 30 million firearms over its life.
