What is the most common bat species in the United States?

The Myotis lucifugus, or little brown bat, is the most common species of bat in the United States. There are more little brown bats in the U.S. and Canada than there are of other species of bats combined.

Little brown bats typically are found living around swap lands and have been found living in Alaska, Georgia and Arkansas. In the United States, the greatest recorded number of these bats has been in New Hampshire. They aren't known to live in the states of Texas or Florida; however, the little brown bats that live in colder regions like Alaska hibernate during the winter.
