What are common Dodge transmission problems?

Common problems with Dodge transmissions include hard and erratic shifting, overheating, moving into neutral from a forward gear, delay in acceleration, and failure of the Check Engine light. A defective solenoid can lead to the failure of a transmission to shift correctly or it might fail totally in some selected gears. A faulty transmission cooler, use of incorrect transmission fluid or an overfilled transmission fluid can cause high temperatures during transmission. A broken filter or a worn-out O-ring can cause the transmission to jump into neutral from a forward gear.

Outdated automatic transmission software on the car computer or a worn-out spark plug can result in delayed acceleration when a Dodge engine is starting.
