Pyrography supplies include pieces of wood, woodburning pens, stencils, transfer paper and sandpaper. Painting or masking tape is useful for keeping the transfer paper in place when transferring a design to the wood.

Pyrography is the art of burning designs into wood. Pyrographists typically sand the wood before transferring the design they wish to burn onto the board. When transferring a pattern to a piece of wood, graphite paper is the best transfer paper to use, as it is non-toxic and the marks are easy to remove. Good beginner woodburning pens include a shader, a writer and a skew or knife.
