The most common religion in Canada is Christianity. Roman Catholics make up about 39 percent of the population. Over 45 percent of Quebec's population is Roman Catholic, and Ontario follows with 31 percent.

The United Church is the second dominant Christian religion in the country, with approximately 2 million people, followed by the Anglicans and Baptists. About 3.2 percent of the Canadian population self-identifies as Muslim, while the rest includes Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists. Immigrants make up most of the minority religions' populations, with the numbers increasing significantly from 2001 to 2011. Nearly 8 million people, or 23.9 percent of Canadians, are not affiliated with any religion.
