The DuPont chemical company has been part of the Fortune 500 for the longest time of any company as of 2015. DuPont has been placed in Fortune's index of the 500 American corporations with the highest revenue since the magazine began the rankings in 1955.
DuPont was ranked 86th on the Fortune 500 for 2014. The company entered the list at 10th place in the inaugural 1955 index. DuPont's longevity in Fortune's rankings is impressive, placing it among a very few companies, such as Boeing and General Motors, that were also listed in 1955 and in 2014. Only 61 companies were listed in both the first and most current Fortune 500 rankings.
