Pain to a natural tooth may result from too much pressure from an unstable or poorly designed denture, notes Jamie the Dentist. Gum disease or a tight clasp may contribute to pain and stress on a natural tooth. Allowing plaque to collect and remain around partial dentures can cause tooth decay and periodontal disease, potentially leading to abscesses or loose teeth that require fillings, root canals or extractions.
