A credit score of 740 or above is typically considered an excellent credit score. Credit scores can range from 350 to 850, with 850 being a perfect credit score, and measure the risk for lending.
A credit score is the result of several factors, including credit limits, percentage of credit used, delinquent payments and collection accounts. Negative public records and income are also contributing factors. People just establishing a credit history will often have a low score because their ability to pay is unknown. While having a good or excellent credit score will normally help you get a loan at the best interest rates, it is not a guarantee.
