What is considered an excellent credit rating score?

While each lender has its own credit thresholds, an excellent credit score is between 740 and 850 as of 2014. Typically, someone with a credit score in this range finds easy access to credit and gets the best rate offers available.

Lenders generally treat scores in the excellent range as being equal. Thus, someone with a score of 765 is likely to get a similar credit offer as someone with a score of 805. However, achieving higher scores is still beneficial as some lenders have different thresholds than others. Plus, a higher score leaves a buffer in the event of a missed payment or negative mark that knocks the score down.
