What is considered legally blind?

If a person has 20/200 vision in his best eye, even after all the corrective measures have been taken, he is considered to be legally blind. Visual acuity of 20/200 indicates that what is visible to the individual at 20 feet can be seen at 200 feet by the average observers.
According to the Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington, if a person's vision can be corrected to be better than 20/200 in both eyes or if one of this person's eyes has vision better than 20/200, then the person cannot be considered legally blind as per the legal definition. A person suffering from tunnel vision, where he has a visual field of 20 degrees or less, can be considered to be legally blind, too.
