Tunisian cuisine is a fusion of Middle Eastern, Arabic, French and Mediterranean cuisine. Classic Tunisian dishes include Harissa, or chili paste, Tajine quiche, Lablabi, or chickpea soup, and Marqa, a meat and vegetable stew.
Residents of the north African country of Tunisia also consume a wide variety of lightly dressed salads. The natives also eat baked and roasted lamb and chicken dishes with roasted vegetables. The French influence in Tunisia also makes French pastries, such as croissants and pains au chocolat, quite popular.
Tunisian cuisine also features an array of indigenous beverages, including Thé à la menthe, a mint tea served with pine nuts.
