Digital images can be converted to JPEG format by using built-in graphics painting programs, pre-installed photo-imaging software or free online image converters. The conversion process may result in a loss of visual quality in the final product.
The JPEG format, developed by the Joint Photographic Experts Group, is a standard file compression method used in digital imaging. It is a popular format for the storage and transfer of pictures on the Internet. Images saved in another file format can be converted to JPEG format using an associated file extension, including ".jpeg," ".jpg," ".jfif" or ".jpe."
