The coronet guinea pig is a rare breed of guinea pig with long, silky hair and a crest on its forehead. Due to its long coat, this breed requires consistent grooming.

The coronet guinea pig is not recommended for beginner owners because of the amount of grooming needed. It is recommended that owners groom the coronet guinea pig daily to prevent the hair from becoming knotted or matted. Special attention needs to be given to the bottom, where excrement can build up. Coronet guinea pigs can follow a standard guinea pig diet and live six to eight years with proper care.
