What is a coude-tipped catheter?
By Forinfos - 18/05/2025 - 0 comments
A coude-tipped catheter is a catheter with a slightly curved tip that is designed for easy insertion, especially when the patient has a urinary tract obstruction that prevents the insertion of a conventional catheter. Men are more likely than women to require coude-tipped catheters.
Conventional catheters may get stuck or expose patients to the risk of damage, such as tearing. Coude catheters come with tips in a range of sizes. Some coude catheters are designed for long-term use. Patients who have had surgery in the urogenital area often need catheters because urination is painful or impossible due to swelling or obstructions. Catheters are also helpful in patients who suffer from paralysis.
