What could cause your Kenmore ice maker to stop working?

A Kenmore ice machine may stop working due to an obstructed shutoff arm, damaged water supply hose or damaged water inlet valve. The ice machine may also stop working if the freezer is too cold.
If the shutoff arm is obstructed, ice cannot be made. The shutoff arm is easily obstructed by ice, so owners should check this first. A damaged water supply hose may also be the culprit; if it is bent, water cannot get through. Though a freezer should be cold, if it is too cold, it may freeze the water line. Owners are advised to keep the freezer above 0 degrees Fahrenheit to control this. The water inlet valve may also be damaged or corroded. If it is, professional assistance is needed.
