Common causes of leg pain, which can be a sharp, aching, dull or stabbing sensation, include a joint, bone or muscle injury, normal wear and tear, and overuse, according to Mayo Clinic. In some cases, leg pain results from poor circulation, varicose veins, blood clots or lower spine problems.
Achilles tendon rupture, Achilles tendinitis, a broken leg and muscle cramps are several typical causes of leg pain, states Mayo Clinic. Some people suffer constant leg pain, while others experience leg pain that comes and goes. The pain either occurs in a small area, such as the knee or shin, or affects the whole leg. Serious leg pain may cause difficulty in walking or inability to put weight on the affected leg.
