How could food labels be revised to be more useful to consumers?

As of 2014, the FDA is in the process of evaluating several proposed changes to the nutrition facts labeling system that would provide more valuable information to consumers. These changes include information about added sugars, declarations regarding the amount of potassium in the product and updated serving-size requirements.
According to the FDA, the updated serving-size recommendation is a major change, if implemented. The FDA asserts that the definition of a single serving has changed in the decades since the original labeling system was introduced, so the new serving sizes will be more realistic to reflect how much people typically eat at one time.
