How are country codes used?

Country codes are used for international calls to foreign countries. To make an international call, enter the exit code followed by the country code and phone number. To make a call within a foreign country, use the trunk code prefix for the country.

To find country codes online, visit websites such as HowToCallAbroad.com and CountryCode.org. HowToCallAbroad.com also provides trunk codes, area codes and phone books. Country pages also list step-by-step directions to call the country, current time and a calling card finder. In addition to country codes, CountryCode.org lists the population, land area, GDP and ISO codes for each country.
