What county is Las Vegas located in?

The City of Las Vegas is located in Clark County, Nevada. While there are casinos and hotels in the city, the majority of gaming establishments are located on the Las Vegas Strip, just outside the city.

Founded in 1909, Clark County has about 2 million residents, which is more than 70 percent of Nevada’s population. That number is dramatically higher year-round due to tourism. More than 39 million people visited Las Vegas in 2013, and more than 22,000 conventions were held in the city that same year. Gaming revenue for the county in 2013 was nearly $10 billion. The Northern Club, in downtown Las Vegas, was the first casino to receive a license after Nevada legalized gambling in 1931.
