Wilmington, incorporated in 1739, is the county seat of New Hanover County and boasts an impressive historic district. Wilmington has a renowned cultural arts scene and was made famous as the filming location for the television shows "Dawson's Creek" and "One Tree Hill." The movie "Iron Man 3" was also shot in Wilmington. The town is known as "Hollywood East" and is home to EUE/Screen Gems Studios. The city also started hosting the annual Cucalorus film festival in 1995.
