Math 215 at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor is also known as Calculus III, or multivariable calculus. The course is preceded by Math 115 and 116, or Calculus I and II respectively, and is taken by most students with a concentration in engineering and the sciences.
Some students may first be required to take Math 105, or precalculus, before beginning the three-course sequence. Math 115 and Math 116 emphasize conceptual understanding and the solving of real world problems. Those that intend to take more advanced courses in mathematics often follow Math 215 with Math 217, or Linear Algebra, and Math 316, which covers differential equations.
