To get crayon off of a wall, scrape the area with a knife, rub it with cleaning paste, and wash it. This 45-minute process requires a knife, a bowl, chalk, dry cleaning solvent and a hammer. A plastic bag, cloths, a bucket, water, ammonia, baking soda, vinegar, a sponge and a brush are also needed.
- Scrape the crayon mark with a dull knife
Cup your hand under the stain, and gently scrape the crayon mark with a dull knife. Collect the wax scrapings in your hand, and discard them.
- Apply the solvent paste
Put a piece of white chalk in a plastic baggie, and crush it with a hammer. Put the chalk powder in a bowl, and add enough dry cleaning solvent to make a paste. Stir it with the knife. Dip a cloth into the solvent paste, and apply a thick layer over the stain. Rub it in, let it dry, and remove the residue with a dry brush.
- Wash the wall
Pour a gallon of water into a bucket, add 1/4 cup white vinegar, 1/4 cup baking soda and 1/2 cup ammonia. Dip a sponge into this solution, wring it out, and wash the entire wall. This ensures that the formerly stained area remains the same shade as the rest of the wall.
