How do you create an ePortfolio?

Creating an e-portfolio consists of five steps: defining the portfolio, gathering and uploading artifacts, adding reflective statements, organizing the product and publishing your work. Although there are a variety of sources in which to create the portfolio, the basic steps for doing so are the same. The sources include GoogleDocs, e-portfolio modules, Edublogs, Pathbrite and many University websites.
- Define the goals of the portfolio
There are different types of portfolios, each with a specific kind of audience. Therefore, the first step is to decide the purpose of the portfolio. Next, determine the standards expected of your portfolio as well as its goals.
- Collect relevant artifacts for your portfolio
After determining the platform to create your portfolio (GoogleDocs, Pathbrite, etc.), it is important to collect specific artifacts that highlight your experience. Scan any physical documents that relate to your portfolio's purpose, and organize the work in a folder.
- Write statements that reflect the expected standards of your portfolio
Use simple statements to reflect the achievements of the portfolio's standards. Select the artifacts that relate to these achievements and goals.
- Organize the portfolio
Many e-portfolios are organize by utilizing hyperlinks between each section. Organize the portfolio by goals, work samples, rubrics and assessments.
- Present the portfolio
Present the portfolio and make it accessible to the intended audience.
