Why does my cursor keep moving?

Some common reasons the mouse cursor on a computer may jump or move around on its own include outdated drivers or a malware program. In Windows, adjusting certain control panel settings may stop the mouse from jumping around.
To troubleshoot a cursor problem, begin by updating the drivers for the computer's mouse and trackpad. Then run an antivirus scan to detect any malware or malicious programs that may be causing the issue. If neither of these solutions work, try installing the third-party freeware program TouchFreeze. TouchFreeze automatically disables the computer's touchpad while the keyboard is in use, freezing the cursor in place as long as the user is typing.
