If you have full sheets of Formica to cut, use a table saw to cut the pieces into more manageable sizes. Cut the pieces bigger than needed in case the surface chips during cutting. Use a router when the laminate is already glued down and simply needs a bit of a trim. Press the leading edge of the bit into the material, moving in a counterclockwise direction.
