What is the cytoplasm of a skeletal muscle fiber called?

The sarcoplasm involves a plasma membrane and an outer layer of thin collagen fibrils and a polysaccharide substance. These are present in striated muscle fibers.

The sarcoplasm is very similar to other cell's cytoplasms, but the key difference is that it has a large amount of myoglobin, a type of protein that binds oxygen and a very high level of glycosomes, which are stored glycogen granules. The sarcoplasm mostly contains myofibrils, and it has a Golgi apparatus, mitochondria, a nucleus and a smooth endoplasmic reticulum inside its complex network. It also has a concentration of calcium that allows for the regulation of muscle contractions.
