What day is Christmas on?

Christmas occurs each year on the 25th of December; in 2014 Christmas falls on a Thursday. In 2015, Christmas will occur on a Friday, and in 2016 it will fall on a Sunday. Christmas will not fall on a Thursday again for more than 10 years.

While some holidays, such as Easter, occur on different calendar dates each year, Christmas has been celebrated on December 25th for thousands of years. While the actual birth date of Christ was not recorded in the Bible, several religions mark this day to celebrate it regardless of historical events. Government offices, banks and other businesses are typically closed on this day.
