The Congo River in Africa is the deepest river in the world at 820 feet deep, according to The World Geography. It flows from its origination point within the Altai Mountains all the way to the Atlantic Ocean.
The Congo River has many major tributaries, such as the Lomami, Aruwimi and Kasai rivers. It receives up to 90 inches of rainfall annually and contains over 30 waterfalls. The Congo measures anywhere from 0.5 meters to 10 meters wide at different points and is responsible for draining over 1.6 million square miles of land. The Congo River pumps over 1.46 million cubic feet of water into the Atlantic Ocean each second of every day.
