A meta refresh is used to direct users to a newly created URL for the website they are attempting to reach. This usually occurs when a website changes its name and needs to direct users who enter the old URL to the location of the new website.

A meta refresh is HTML coding that redirects users who attempt to access a URL that is no longer used to the website's new URL. Users usually see a message informing them that the website's name has changed and they are about to be directed to its new Web address. The URL that is no longer being used now serves as a redirect page.
