What is the definition of pop art?
By Forinfos - 03/11/2025 - 0 comments
Pop art often contains material that is visually outside of its original context or that is combined with unrelated material. This art movement started in Britain in the mid-1950s and in the United States later that decade.
The idea of pop art refers more to the attitudes that enabled it as opposed to the art directly. Lawrence Alloway introduced the term in the late 1950s as a concept of art based off of pop culture as well as the influence and power of images. Pop art strives to incorporate images of pop culture as famous popular artist Andy Warhol's work exemplifies. Warhol's work features pop icons, such as Marilyn Monroe and Campbell's soup cans.
