What is the definition of a URL?
By Forinfos - 28/05/2025 - 0 comments
URL is the acronym for Uniform Resource Locator, and it is the Internet address for a website or a file. A URL includes a prefix, a server name or IP address of the server and sometimes the path to a specific directory or file on the website.
An example of the parts of a URL begins with http://, which is the prefix; techterms.com is the server name; and /definition/url is the path. All website URLs start with the http prefix. But there are other URL prefixes, including "news", which points to a newsgroup. Users may type a URL into a browser, open a saved bookmark or click on a link on another Web page.
