Abraham Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address in Pennsylvania in November of 1963 at the National Cemetery of Gettysburg. The speech was given at the official dedication for the cemetery.
The speech itself was a mere 273 words long and touches briefly on the importance of human equality, the need for the unification of the states as one union and the human sacrifices from the Civil War. The speech has become an historic reminder of the war and of the hope for the future of the United States. The speech also helped suggest to the country that it was time to let go of the resentment that both sides had towards one another and to move forward as a unified nation.
