When did Arizona become a state?

Arizona became a U.S. state on Feb. 14th, 1912, and was the last of the 48 contiguous states to be admitted to the union. Arizona was part of New Mexico until it became a separate territory in 1863. In 2010, the population of Arizona was 6,392,017.

Arizona is the sixth-largest state by area in the United States. It is home to the 277-mile-long Grand Canyon, which nearly 5 million people visit each year. Arizona is one of only two states that do not observe Daylight Saving Time. It has the most designated Indian tribal land by percentage in the U.S.
