When did Charles Dickens write "Great Expectations"?

Charles Dickens wrote the novel "Great Expectations" in October of 1860. The novel was actually published in weekly installments by All the Year Round from December of 1860 through August of 1861.

The novel is set in London in the mid-1800s. "Great Expectations" depicts the life of an orphan named Pip as he falls in love, works at a blacksmith shop and ends up trapped in a situation involving two criminals, all while learning about the joys and meaning of life. The novel is Dickens' 13th novel and most certainly one of his most successful works to date. It has received many television and film adaptations.
