When did Columbia House close?

Columbia House filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Aug. 10, 2015. Although Columbia House has declared bankruptcy, it still sells DVDs through its website. In September 2015, a judge approved a request that Columbia House be sold at auction. As of November 2015, the auction sale has not occurred.

Columbia House was formed in 1955 and was best known for selling a high volume of records, cassettes, and CDs at very low prices. In 2010, Columbia House stopped selling music products and began exclusively selling DVDs. Despite a shift in business plan, Columbia House continued to experience decreased revenues from 2010 to 2015, which led it to declare bankruptcy.
