Dottie Rambo got divorced in 1994. Her husband, Buck Rambo, then married her secretary. Dottie married Buck Rambo at the age of 16, and after the birth of their daughter Reba, the family created the music group The Rambos.

The Rambos were a very successful Gospel group, won numerous awards, and are a member of the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame. In the years leading up to her divorce from Buck, Dottie suffered a ruptured disk that left her partially paralyzed, and she had to undergo numerous surgeries that sidelined her music career. Dottie Rambo died on May 11, 2008, because of injuries sustained in a tour bus accident.
