Did Francis Crick use LSD?

Francis Crick used the drug LSD during his career as a geneticist. He has stated that he was under the influence of LSD when he first discovered the double-helix structure of DNA in 1953. Crick is considered the father of modern genetics.

Crick confided to a colleague in the field that he frequently used small dosages of LSD to enhance his thinking and imagination. In the 1950s, the substance was an experimental drug used mostly in psychotherapy. Crick credited his use of the drug with helping him to uncover the structure of DNA, an accomplishment that won him a Nobel Prize in 1962.
