Did Francis Ouimet marry Sarah?

Francis Ouimet did not marry a woman named Sarah. He married Stella Sullivan on Sept. 11, 1918. Francis and Stella Sullivan had two daughters, Janice and Barbara.

Francis Ouimet was an amateur golfer who won the U.S. Open in 1913. He was the first non-Briton elected to be captain of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews.

Francis Ouimet had defeated Stella's brother John Sullivan in the first round of the Boston Interscholastic Championship nearly 10 years before Francis and Stella were married. Francis Ouimet and John Sullivan later became partners in a sporting goods business in Boston.
