Horoscopes were developed by the ancient Greeks thousands of years ago. The word "horoscope" is derived from the Greek words "hora," meaning time, and "scopos," meaning "observer."
Astrology originated in Greece thousands of years ago, although there is evidence that it originated with the Babylonians and was then introduced to the Greeks. In Greek, "astrology" means "science of the stars." The ancient Greeks are believed to have been the first people to use the position of the sun and the planets to predict future occurrences in people's lives. They also developed the idea that the particular alignment of the planets during a person's birth helps determine that person's characteristics and experiences.
