What did the Incas live in?
By Forinfos - 03/06/2025 - 0 comments
Inca houses were made from stone blocks and they had angled, thatched roofs. The Incas used mainly granite stones, because it was a hard, sturdy building material.
The average Inca family lived in a one-room brick house. Some of the single family dwellings had wooden floors. There was no furniture at all. Sleeping and sitting was done on mats placed on the bare floor. The Incas used a variety of architectural techniques, including fired mud bricks and shaped stones covered with mud and clay. Due to its complexity, the shaped stone architecture was reserved for religious sites, palaces and military installations.
