The Kickapoo used corn as their main source of food; they also ate beans, squash, deer, buffalo, fish and small game. The name "Kickapoo" comes from the Shawnee word meaning "wanderer." As of 2014, there are four Kickapoo tribes in North America, living in reservations in Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma and Mexico.
The Kickapoo Native American tribe obtained their food primarily through farming, with corn being one of their main crops. To supplement this diet, members of the tribe would set up community buffalo hunts during the fall, while winters were spent in hunting camps. Fish were also a part of the Kickapoo diet among communities located near rivers.
