The Kickapoo tribe is a Native American tribe that originally settled in present day Ohio and Michigan. Currently there are only four Kickapoo tribes, three in the United States and one in Mexico.
The Kickapoo tribes that live in the United States have reservations in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. The Mexican tribe members live in two villages. The Kickapoo had their own language, which is still spoken today in Mexico and by the tribe located in Oklahoma.
Due to British and American encroachment upon their lands, the Kickapoo tribe resettled in Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin. Eventually the American government forced the tribe onto reservations.
