It is thought that Leonardo da Vinci became an artist because, at a young age in 1469, he was apprenticed to a man named Verocchio, who was a well-known artist of the time, according to Boston's Museum of Science.
Not only did da Vinci surpass his teacher in his artwork, he began exploring other avenues through which to express his art. He turned to science, where he began to study the human body more in depth. His success in his studies eventually led him to completing very life-like paintings, such as the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. Leonardo da Vinci was known both as an artist and an inventor.
