Leonardo da Vinci died at the Château de Cloux, now known as the Château du Clos Lucé. The château is located in Amboise, France, and it is connected to the royal residence at the Château d'Amboise via an underground passageway.
King François I of France invited Leonardo da Vinci to live and work in Amboise in 1516. Leonardo lived at the Clos Lucé from 1516 until his death on May 2, 1519.
The Château du Clos Lucé hosts a Leonardo da Vinci museum with rooms that have been restored to appear as they did during Leonardo's time there. The museum also features three-dimensional exhibits and 40 models of Leonardo's inventions.
