Where and why did Mao Zedong gain power?

Mao Zedong's power was something that he earned through the years as he grew up, working with revolutionists, refusing to settle for the traditional ways and educating himself on Marxism and Leninism. Zedong became one of the founding members of the Communist party of China in 1921.

Zedong was interested in strong leaders, military heroes and rebellions as a young child. He read and learned as much as he could, building his foundation for his beliefs and his actions through the following decades. He played a large role in organizations like the United Front and the Nationalist Party. The battles won during these events all led to the creation of the People's Republic of China.
