Marty Robbins died on Dec. 8, 1982, at the age of 57. He had suffered his third serious heart attack. He underwent surgery, but died at the hospital three days later. He was survived by his wife and two children.

Marty Robbins was an American singer, songwriter and racing driver. He was a very successful country music artist with several of his songs topping the country music charts. His received a gold record for his song "A White Sport Coat and a Pink Carnation," and he received a Grammy award for his song "El Paso," a song that hit number one on the pop charts.
