The Trojan War took place in the city of Troy in the ancient nation of Anatolia. In present day, the city of Troy would be located in Turkey, according to the Ancient History Encyclopedia.
For many years, scholars doubted whether the city of Troy actually existed. They believed it to be a legend passed down through the centuries in the Greek poet Homer's epic tale "The Iliad." Archaeologists have located a site in present-day Turkey, or ancient-day Anatolia, that housed an ancient and powerful city. The site shows evidence of continual conflict, suggesting to archaeologists that it is the actual remains of the formerly mythic city of Troy.
