What is the difference between aftershave and eau de toilette?

Although most men use them interchangeably, there is a difference between aftershave and eau de toilette. An aftershave has perfume oil of between 1 percent and 3 percent. Therefore, it's not long lasting, while an eau de toilette has around 4 percent to 8 percent perfume oil.
A number of aftershaves include cooling and soothing ingredients like aloe vera, which help sooth the skin after shaving. An eau de toilette contains a lot of perfume oil, which can lead to a red and blotchy face. As such, eau de toilette should not be applied directly to the face but instead to pressure points, which are areas near the skin surface with a pulse.
