Diprolene, a brand of the generic topical medication betamethasone, is used to treat skin conditions, such as eczema, dermatitis, skin allergies and rash, according to WebMD. It is a high-potency corticosteroid that reduces itching, swelling and redness.
Diprolene is available as a cream, gel or ointment and must only be used topically, according to WebMD. It is typically used once or twice a day for up to two weeks. No more than 45 grams of the cream or ointment form of Diprolene should be used during a week, and no more than 50 grams of the gel form should be used in a week.
