Cholacol is a source of bile salts in tablet form that helps fat digestion during a meal, according to Standard Process, the company that makes Cholacol. The company recommends the supplement for individuals who have a malfunctioning gallbladder or do not produce enough bile to digest fat.
After a fatty meal, the gallbladder releases bile made by the liver to break down and digest fats, as Everyday Health explains. Failure to break down fats causes discomfort after a meal. An individual may undergo surgery to remove a gallbladder when it malfunctions, and he may take additional supplements, such as Cholacol, to help digest fats in a meal.
